| The impact of flow constraints on extreme events in regional and global climate models |
| This project investigates the impact of nudging technologies used for regional climate models on extreme events. The research involves idealized simulations of the CCCma climate model employing various nudging methods designed to constrain the solution to follow reanalysis data or a preexisting climate simulation. In particular, the influence of the nudging on the the representation of extreme events is investigated. While this investigation is idealized and is undertaken with a global climate model, the motivation is a better understanding of the artifacts of nudging technologies currently employed by regional climate models to constrain their solutions to follow driving data in the interior of their domains. |
